Appreciating the Present with Kaylynn Yates

Expanding your capacity to receive what you long for

Presence may be one of the most talked-about topics in personal growth, but it is also one we need to revisit, whenever we find ourselves living somewhere in the future or wandering back through the past—which, for most of us, is nearly all the time.

Through years of raising children in a split environment, where Kaylynn's time with them was limited, she learned that some of the most meaningful moments of her life were not the biggest ones, but the ones she deliberately chose to fully enter.  She can still remember the sound of her son’s voice when she paused long enough to savor it. She can still feel the soft fuzzies on her daughter’s footed pajamas as she sat in her lap, interrupting her meditation in the very best kind of way. Those moments became gifts she gave herself, because she was present enough to receive them.

In this special Weekly Forum (open to the public), we explore how to build the habit of becoming present for micro-moments throughout the day—how to quiet the mind, notice the senses, and fully appreciate a person, a place, or an experience while it is happening.

Using tools such simple physical anchors or a mental snapshot practice, we can help the mind take note of what is precious before it slips by unnoticed. This will be a gentle, reflective, and practical discussion about how to love the moment completely, live it without reservation or distraction, and deepen your appreciation for your relationships and everyday experiences already within reach.

As we increase our availability to the gifts found in the present moment, we prepare ourselves to receive other blessings that may otherwise remain elusive.
